CHAPTER 1: THE JERRY DILEMMA (MOTION IS NOT PROGRESS)
Jerry came to me exhausted. He was "busy" 18 hours a day. He was checking boxes, but his bank account and his legacy were stagnant. I told him: "You are running fast, but you are on a treadmill. You are burning energy, but you are not arriving."
The Raw Truth is that most people confuse activity with accomplishment. If effort alone created success, the construction worker would be the wealthiest man in the world. Success is a function of Leverage.
Reflective Exercise 2.1: The Audit of Exhaustion
1. Identify the one task that took the most energy today. Did it increase your asset value?
2. What is the "Treadmill Task" you can delete right now?
3. Define "Arriving" — where exactly are you trying to go?
Chapter 1 Laws:
1. The Law of the Treadmill: Motion without direction is a waste of life.
2. The Law of Result-Matching: If the results don't match the effort, the system is broken.
3. The Law of Arriving: Never start a journey without a destination coordinates.
4. The Law of Busy-ness: Being busy is often a form of laziness—lazy thinking.
5. The Law of Energy Conservation: Only spend energy on what compounds.
"You'll spend years in motion, but not in progress, if you don't define the prize." — Bisong Simon Egoh
